For a good number of years now a group of retired W.S.T.G. members have been meeting regularly once a month at Wetherspoons in the Guildhall square, Portsmouth. This has evolved from the good old Friday lunchtime sessions when we were "working" (after your time Knocker). Mostly made up of Radio and Surface Weapons men, it has now become a regular event.
Some months as many as nine or ten all get together for a chat and some reminiscing. Wetherspoons is a good venue as it is close to the bus and train services, not only that there is a good selection of cheap beer and no loud music (I must be getting old). As it has become so popular we thought it may be a good idea to spread the word to other old colleagues in the hope they will come along too.
As the name suggests we meet from about 1200hrs to whenever you want to leave on the last Friday of every month except December. Both Ivan and Ken are recent recruits and it has got to the point now where we have to rearrange the pub furniture to get us all accommodated round the table.
You don't have to be a hardened drinker, some only have soft drinks so you wont be joining in any binge sessions.
So drop the wife off at the shops (minus credit card) and come and join us for a couple of hours.
